Draw this episode, and stop anytime

In the upper right of page details, click “Draw this episode”: Wapopo draws 1 panel for you to check first, then continues in batches of up to 5 panels. Click “Stop”, and the panels already queued will finish, then drawing stops.

Three techniques

Images in the storyboard are drawn only when you click. The assistant will not place the order for you. There are three techniques:

  • Draw this panel: in a panel’s details, click “Draw this panel” or “Redraw”.
  • Draw this page: in the lower left of page details, click “Draw this page N panels”. All panels to draw on this page are ordered at once.
  • Draw this episode: in the upper right of page details. You need to open any page first before you can see it.

“Panels to draw” means panels that have a panel description and either have no image yet, or are old drafts. Panels without a description are skipped.

Why can’t the assistant draw for you? Drawing images uses your credits. It can write and edit text on its own, but the moment that costs money is left for you to click.

Draw this episode: first 1 panel, then 5 panels at a time

After you click “Draw this episode · N panels”, Wapopo draws in batches, in order: page by page, panel by panel.

  1. The first batch draws only 1 panel, so you can check whether the direction is right;
  2. After that batch comes back, the next batch starts automatically, with up to 5 panels per batch;
  3. It keeps drawing until all panels in this episode are done.

Sometimes a batch has fewer than 5 panels. If a panel needs to be drawn “continuing from the previous panel”, Wapopo must wait for the previous panel to finish and use it as a reference, so that panel will be moved to the next batch.

While drawing, a progress card appears in the assistant chat in the lower right. It says “Episode N · M panels”, and you can expand it to see how far each batch has gone.

Why draw 1 panel first? Drawing images costs credits. Drawing one panel first lets you confirm that the art style and characters are right before continuing. If they are not right, you can stop, instead of spending credits for the whole episode on images you do not want.

“Stop” and “Continue drawing”

While drawing, the “Draw this episode” button changes to “Stop”. When you click it:

  • The batch already queued, up to 5 panels, will finish as usual and credits are still charged as usual;
  • After this batch finishes, drawing stops and the next batch will not start automatically.

After drawing stops, that button changes to “Continue drawing”. Click it, and Wapopo continues drawing the remaining panels with the same rules: first 1 panel, then 5 panels at a time.

A few more notes about stopping:

  • The stop state applies to the whole comic: while it is on, you cannot click “Draw this panel”, “Draw this page”, or “Draw this episode” anywhere in this comic. Wapopo will show “Drawing is stopped. Click Continue drawing in the upper right”;
  • It does not affect images in planning: element cards and covers can still be drawn;
  • If you close the page and come back, drawing is still stopped.

Why is the stop button in page details, not in the chat? When the chat scrolls down, the button gets pushed away and becomes hard to find. Stopping is something you need to be able to reach anytime.

How credits are charged

  • Each image costs 100 credits, and credits are deducted the moment you place the order. A page or a batch is charged together. If you do not have enough credits for that batch, no panels in that batch will be drawn.
  • If an image fails, the system automatically tries one more time. If it still fails, the credits are refunded automatically.
  • If pages are deleted or the layout is changed while images are still queued and have not started drawing, those credits are also refunded.
  • Once an image is drawn successfully, credits are not refunded, even if you redraw it later.

If you do not have enough credits when you click to draw images, a “Not enough credits” window appears. It tells you how many credits you are short, and you can invite friends or buy a credits pack.

If credits run out halfway through, when the next batch is about to start automatically, Wapopo stops at that batch: the progress card in the assistant chat says “Not enough credits, stopped at this batch”, and the “Not enough credits” window appears. After you add credits, click “Draw this episode” again to continue drawing the remaining panels.

Wait for element card images first

Each panel is drawn based on the images on the element cards in its appearance cast list. If a card does not have an image yet, that panel can only rely on text, and the character in the image may not match.

So before clicking “Draw this episode”, first check whether the cards in story elements all have images. The assistant also checks after finishing an episode. If any cards still do not have images, it will draw those cards first and remind you to wait before clicking.
