Export

Export this episode or the whole comic as a PNG zip file or PDF. It is generated in your browser and costs no credits.

Where to export

Export is only available in “Production”: the planning screens do not have storyboard images yet, so there is nothing to export.

  • On the right side of the “Production” section title, there is a small export icon. When this episode is fully drawn, it turns light red. If it is not finished yet, it stays gray. Hover over it to see how many panels are still missing.
  • When an episode is finished, a reminder appears at the top of the storyboard with “Export this episode”. This reminder only appears once per episode. If you dismiss it, it will not appear again, but the export button is always there.
  • On mobile, the export button is on the right side of the main panel’s top bar.

You can also open the export button before everything is finished. It will tell you which pages are missing.

Choose the range and format

After you click it, a small window opens. Choose two things:

  • Range: “This episode” or “Whole comic”. Whole comic joins all episodes in order and exports them together.
  • Format:
    • PNG zip file: one image per page, 2800×4000, packaged into one zip file;
    • PDF: laid out in A4 proportions, page by page.

After choosing, click “Export”. The window shows which page it is working on. When it is done, the browser downloads the file directly. The file name is the comic title. If you export only one episode, the episode number is added after it.

When images are missing

If even one image is missing, it will not export. Even if only one panel is not drawn, Wapopo will not give you a comic with missing pages. Instead, it tells you which pages in which episode are not finished. Finish them, then come back.

An old draft with an edited description does not count as a missing image. It still has an old image, and that is the one used for export. If you want to export the new version, redraw the old draft first.

Why does one missing panel stop export? A book with missing pages is more trouble than an export that does not start. You might only notice the missing panel after you send it out. So it is better to stop before export and clearly show what is missing.

Why it costs no credits

Export happens in your own browser. It combines the finished images, balloons, and text page by page. It does not go through the server and does not generate any new images, so it costs no credits no matter how many times you export.

The text in balloons uses the font for the comic language, with the same line breaks you see in the storyboard.
