Connect Claude

Add Wapopo to Claude. Say one thing in Claude, and it can create a comic, write the planning, draw art, and export a complete comic.

What it can do

After you connect it, Claude works through your Wapopo account. The comics it creates are saved in your account, just like the ones you make on the website. You can open the website at any time to view or edit them.

  • Create comics: choose an art style and give it your story. The art style cannot be changed later, so it will first ask which one you want;
  • Talk to the assistant: it passes your words to the assistant inside the comic. The assistant writes the planning, creates story elements, and makes the storyboard as usual; when the assistant leaves a list of items that need your decision, Claude will ask you, or answer based on what you told it;
  • Draw art: draw storyboard images episode by episode, and draw the first image for element cards and covers that do not have art yet. This will spend your credits;
  • Check progress: see how far each episode has gotten, and how many panels are still missing art;
  • Export: export the comic as a PDF or PNG zip file, and give you a download link.

What it cannot do: buy credits, change your password or email, or change account settings. Only you can do these on the website.

Connect in the Claude web or desktop app

  1. Open Claude’s “Settings” → “Connectors”.

  2. Click “Add custom connector”.

  3. Enter Wapopo as the name, and copy the address below exactly. Do not add extra spaces or slashes before or after it:

    https://api.wapopo.com/mcp

  4. After adding it, click “Connect”. Your browser will open Wapopo’s authorization page. If you are not logged in, it will ask you to log in first, then return you to the authorization page.

  5. Read what the authorization page says. If everything looks right, click “Approve connection”. The page will return to Claude.

Connect in Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http wapopo https://api.wapopo.com/mcp

Then type /mcp in Claude Code, and choose wapopo to log in. Your browser will open Wapopo’s authorization page. After you approve it, you will return to the terminal and can start using it.

Claude Code is a program on your computer, so “After approval, return to” on the authorization page will show 127.0.0.1 or localhost with a port. It will also remind you that “a program on this computer is requesting access.” If you just started this yourself, approve it.

  • App name: this is reported by the other app. If the return address is Claude’s official address, it will say “Verified” next to it; if not, it will say “Unverified” next to the app name.
  • After approval, return to: the large text shows which website it will return to. If you came from the Claude web or desktop app, it should be claude.ai.
  • Can do / cannot do: this is the same as “What it can do” above; under “Spend your credits to draw art”, it shows how many credits you have now.
  • Who is logged in: if you want to connect with another account, click “Switch account”.

The authorization page link is valid for 10 minutes. If it expires, go back to Claude and connect again.

If you did not start this yourself, click “Deny”. Someone else can send you an authorization link and trick you into approving it. Check the return address. If you do not recognize it, deny it.

How credits are spent

When Claude draws art, it spends the credits in your account, just like when you click to draw art yourself: each image costs 100 credits, and the credits are deducted when the order is placed.

  • There is a limit each time: every time Claude asks Wapopo to draw art, it must first state the maximum number of credits it can spend this time. If the estimated cost is higher than that number, or higher than your balance, it will not draw any images, and it will tell Claude how many credits are missing. You can tell Claude in advance how many credits it may spend each time.
  • It will not ask you again before drawing art: after you approve the connection, Wapopo will not show another confirmation popup when Claude places an art order.
  • Episodes are still drawn in batches: it draws 1 panel first, then up to 5 panels each time. When one batch is done, the next batch starts automatically. See “Draw this episode”. To stop, ask Claude to pause drawing art, or click “Stop” in the storyboard.
  • It cannot buy credits: when you do not have enough credits, Claude will tell you how many are missing and give you a link to the pricing page. You buy them yourself.

How long it takes

Making a complete comic takes a while. The assistant needs a few minutes for each episode, and works through them one by one. Drawing art also has to wait in a queue.

Claude will check the progress from time to time. You can go do something else first, then come back and ask it to continue. All progress is saved in Wapopo, so it can continue even in a different conversation. Just tell it the comic name.

Export and download links

When you ask Claude to export, Wapopo renders the comic on the server as a PDF or PNG zip file, using the same technique as exporting on the website, then gives Claude a download link.

  • It will not export if even one image is missing, just like on the website: it will tell you which episodes and pages are not finished yet;
  • Each file can have up to 80 pages. If there are more pages, they will be split into several files by episode;
  • Download links are valid for 24 hours. If one expires, ask Claude to export again.

To export on the website, see “Export”.

Disconnect

Click your account in the lower-left corner → “Settings” → “Connected apps”, find the app, and click “Disconnect”. It will stop working right away.

After you change your password or recover your password, all previously connected apps will also be disconnected. Connect again if you want to use them.
